9 Spaces in Your Home that You May be Forgetting to Clean

As March rolls around, I can't help but begin to think about Spring cleaning. I'm one of those weird people that actually think of cleaning my home as fun. There's nothing more satisfying than knowing that your house is clean from top to bottom.

I've been busy decluttering my home earlier this year so I'm excited to get started on my deep cleaning. My hope is that with less stuff laying around, spring cleaning will be breeze giving me more time to enjoy this beautiful weather we are currently having in Florida.

9 Spaces you forget to clean in your home - House by the Preserve

Walls

Go around your house, inside and out and clean those walls! Get rid of spider webs, stains, marks, etc. This will instantly give your home a little pick me up.

Baseboards

I don't know about you, but our home tends to get dusty if I don't keep up with it and it all seems to collect on the baseboards. Take time to clean your baseboards with a dryer sheet and truly see them shine. The dryer sheet will actually pick up the dust, not just move it around.

Ceiling Fans

If you've never cleaned your ceiling fan then get ready for a dust bomb to go off. A large amount of dust can collect on your blades, so make sure you clean yours every couple of months to make the job less annoying. I use a dryer sheet as well to make sure the dust is picked up and not just pushed around.

Cleaning underneath large furniture - House by the Preserve

Underneath large Furniture

At least once a year, I make the effort to move the bed and deep clean - it never ceases to amazing me the amount of dust that can collect down there. Vacuum, mop, clean underneath the bed, dresser, nightstands, sofa's, TV console, etc. Your allergies will thank you!

Mattress

Cleaning the mattress is fast and easy. I try to clean mine at least twice a year with baking soda. All I do is put some lavender oil drops (2-3) in a bowl of baking soda.  The lavender oil isn't necessary but makes the mattress smell delish and helps you sleep better too! Simply sprinkle the baking soda all over the mattress and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Then use the handheld feature of your vacuum to vacuum the baking soda off the mattress.

Appliances

The appliances in our home can be some of the hardest working machines out there. Clean your washer and dryer at least once a year if not more if you want to make them last! Plus, your clothes will thank you! While you are at it, let's tackle THE hardest working appliance in your home, the refrigerator. It's on 24/7 for years, so it deserves a little TLC, no? Check out my post here on how I deep clean mine.

Kitchen Cabinets

A lot of grease and dirt can collect on your kitchen cabinets. At least twice a year I try to deep clean mine - you can read all about it here. The kitchen always looks extra shinny when I complete this step.

Air Returns and Vents

I'm always amazed at the amount of dust that collects on the air conditioning returns. I make it a point to use a vacuum to clean mine with the brush attachment to make sure I'm getting in all the nooks and crannies.

Garage

We enter our home most of the time through the garage and I always find if the garage floor is dirty, so will my floor inside the house. Even though we've made it a habit to take off our shoes before coming in the house, it always amazes me the amount of dirt that we still track inside. I first start by removing all the vehicles out of the garage and using a blower to get as much dirt out as I can. I then, follow up with a broom to get in all those hard to reach areas and remove dirt as much as possible.

What are some of the places that you always forget to clean? Leave me a comment below, I'd love to hear from you!
