A Navy & Coral Baby Girl Nursery

I'm excited to be writing this post because it means that we are finally starting to plan the nursery decor for our baby girl. I tend to be a pretty impatient person and it took everything in me to not start decorating as soon as we found out the gender. I've done my hardest to not look at nursery inspiration since I couldn't really start decorating the room just yet. If you haven’t heard, our house has been a bit of a construction zone lately as we decided to turn our lanai into a four season room so that we could turn it into the new office/playroom space. With the lanai enclosure almost complete, it's finally time to start planning!

If you've been following me for a while, then you know that earlier this year, I turned the closet in our spare bedroom into my office for the $100 Room Challenge. I had painted the closet a dark blue that I just love and when thinking about the new nursery in here, I really wanted to make the blue work with my decor for a baby girl's nursery. Mostly because I really didn’t want to repaint the closet and also because I wanted to keep things bright rather than go with pastel colors. When I saw this rug from Overstock, I knew it was the perfect inspiration to jump off from for my little girls room.

  4. Drawer Pulls

  5. Ikea Hemnes Dresser

  7. Round Throw Pillow

I plan to reuse Lucas's old crib and have been debating a lot about painting it white but after putting together the mood board for this room, I'm kinda loving the wood tones of the crib. So as of now, I'm planning on keeping the crib the same color but I plan on using gold Rub N' Buff on the metal accents to girly it up a bit. I'll also use textures with pillows and throws to help make it a little bit more feminine (of course these items will be removed when baby is using the crib).

For above the crib, I'm going to be using a set of 3 flower paintings that my grandmother painted several years ago. She's quite the artist and I love incorporating her pieces in my home and I love the idea of passing these on to my daughter one day. Check out how I recently used one of her paintings to finish off my laundry room.

I also plan on re-purposing the IKEA Hemnes dresser that used to house all of the toys and paint it a nice pretty pink shade that I'll pull off the rug. I'll add a touch of glam by updating the knobs on the top 4 drawers and painting gold the remaining ones. For above the dresser, I've dreamed of replication a doll house shelves that I grew up with in my room when I was younger. I've drawn up what I want it to look like and will be starting work soon on building.

It's hard from me to choose my favorite part of my plan of this nursery so far because I love the play house shelves idea. But when trying to come up with something fun for the window, I think we've come up with a pretty cool plan. We will be DIYing an indoor window awning made out of wood shingles and I'm so super excited to see if the vision in my head will be as soon in real life!

Stay tuned for several DIY blog posts coming your way as we complete this nursery for our baby girl and hopefully sooner rather than later, look out for the full reveal!

Happy Decorating!

Ever since I was a little girl I have been fascinated with interior decorating and using my hands to create beautiful things to incorporate in my space.

I believe that making your house a home shouldn’t be a difficult or expensive but exciting and most of all fun! It isn’t about the size or location of your home but about being able to create a space that is yours to fit your budget without sacrificing style.

Having recently purchased our first home, we’ve been busy creating a space that is ours as we blend my and my husband’s styles together. Explore the site to see what we have accomplished!
