A Dining Room Refresh
I've been wanting to do this project for so long now I can't believe it's actually finished! It was such a simple update that made a HUGE difference to our dining room. It always amazes me the difference a little paint can make! Our dining room not only looks like new, but also refreshed and updated which makes this girl very happy.
It all started when I spotted this Serena & Lily Capiz Honeycoomb Chandelier, beautiful right? I thought so and as soon as I saw it, I've been obsessing over it. Then reality sets in and with a four season room currently under construction, it's out of our budget right now. So when brainstorming about what to do with our dining room light fixture, I decided to ask myself, what don't I like about my currently light fixture? And I kept coming back to the same issue, I wanted something to help break up all of the wood tones in this space.

The easiest and fastest way that I could update my current light fixture was with paint. Gold spray paint to be exact. I loved the idea of spray painting the light fixture gold because it would help not only break the wood tones in the room but also tie in some of the gold features from the kitchen.
I used my favorite Rust-Oleum Pure Gold spray paint and got to work.
The first step was taking the chandelier down and giving it a good clean to make sure my spray paint adheres to it well. After several spray paint projects, I’ve found that working with light layers is best. Two light layers was perfect to completely cover the lamp. And next we wait… I decided to wait 24 hours to let the fixture fully dry as we live in super humid Florida.
1) Prep - wipe down and clean
2) Apply a light coat
3) Second light coat
And here is what it looks like now:
What a difference right? I’m so happy with the result that I’m tempted to carry the look throughout the light fixtures in our hallway and entryway. Just don’t tell the hubby yet, I haven’t broken the news to him yet! (LOL)
