$100 Room Challenge: Painting + Inspiration
It's week two of the $100 Room Challenge and I've been in full painting mode! Before I start a painting project, I always think, "oh it's not going to be that bad!" and then you begin painting and you start to wonder what was wrong with the previous paint color anyway? That's where I am right about now, that previous beige color isn't looking that bad now! Never mind that I'm 36 weeks pregnant and trying to paint with my pregnant belly in a tight space! Thank goodness for my hubby who has been doing most of the heavy lifting.

In all seriousness, once I started to paint, the bathroom instantly looks like it has gotten a whole new face lift. I'm always amazed about the power of paint and this one is no different. The finishes look updated and new and the space feels lighter and brighter which is a plus for a small bathroom without a window!

We decided to paint the bathroom a beautiful light gray called "Natural Gray" by Behr Marquee from The Home Depot. It's my favorite kind of paint because it goes on smoothly with just one coat coverage. We've used the same paint color throughout our home as we've slowly been updating from the builder beige that was here previously.

INSPIRATION
When trying to decided how I wanted to update this space, I wanted to make sure that it was something that would look pretty as this bathroom is close to our entry way and can be seen as people enter our home. I could easily close the door if I wanted to, but this little area is already so dark, I feel that closing the door will make it feel smaller and darker. So my solution is make it pretty if we are forced to look at it.
What I would like to do, is update the shower curtain so that it looks more like a window treatment by hanging it as close to the ceiling as I can while still allowing light to flow through the tub area. Not only will this solve my dilemma but also make the ceiling appear a lot higher than it really is, making this small bathroom appear a little bit grander. I also want to accessorize the bathroom in a way that's pretty but yet functional as it will be used often by our toddler, baby girl, and any overnight guests. I want to add simple solutions to storing their potty training toilet seat and a pretty stool so that they can reach the sink and toilet. But also make it pretty enough so that when we do have guests stay over, it's not filled with kids stuff.
GOALS FOR THE KIDS BATHROOM:
Paint walls to match the rest of our home.
Clean and refresh the trim by painting it high gloss white.
Re-caulk along the tub and sink.
Update shower curtain for a more dramatic look.
Clean and organize under the sink cabinet and drawers so it's not a complete mess!
Update shower head.
Install a new toilet paper holder.
Update decor - make it pretty and functional to store all things baby!
