2024 Spooky Halloween Home Tour
With the fall season officially underway, it's time to start decorating for Halloween! I have to admit that I was not looking forward to decorating this year. I felt uninspired and not looking forward to it like I normally am. But after the last couple of weeks in Florida with back-to-back hurricanes, I'm ready to try and focus on something fun and not stressful. My kids have also been super excited to see Halloween decorations go up, which always inspires me to make it entertaining and memorable for them.
When thinking about Halloween decor, I like to incorporate items that "fit in" with the rest of my home. I try to stay away from anything bright orange or anything that screams cheesy Halloween. You don't have to spend a lot of money either, most of my decorations have been collected over the years from Dollar Tree, Target, and Walmart. I make it a rule to choose one or two items that I want to add to my decor stash, and I try to challenge myself every year to use the decorations I already own in new and creative ways.
Entryway
Last year, I found several sized spiders at the Dollar Tree and I’ve loved decorating with them. I kept the rest of my decor the same but added a spider web over the mirror and attached spiders over the mirror. This is my favorite way of decorating for holidays because adding a few Halloween items to my current decor makes it feel chic and collected rather than cheesy Halloween.
Hallway
I was inspired when I saw a tree branch outside that looked a little spooky and attached my owl from Dollar Tree for an added spooky touch. A simple update was to change out my taper candles to black ones, also from Dollar Tree, which bleed red whenever lit. A fun and free touch that I always like to do during any season, is check out the public domain artwork. You can usually download these for free and print them at home. This smoking skeleton is a Van Gogh that I printed on normal white paper. I like that it’s matte and not shiny photo paper. In our kitchen, I printed a painting off the public domain and drew little ghosts in it to fit the Halloween theme.
Living Room
The easiest way to decorate our living room is by using our TV and making it look like art. It’s surprisingly simple and best of all - free! I go to YouTube and search for a Halloween screen saver, there are a ton of options from spooky to quirky. I love playing around with different looks. I added plastic skeleton hands to my fall, moody flowers making them look like they are coming out of the ground. The rest of the decor is on our coffee table and I’ve added it to complement the other decor pieces.
Dining Room
I kept things in the dining room simple with some Dollar Tree cheese cloth webs and ravens that I cut with my Cricut well over 5 years ago. They’ve held up great and have been a staple in my Halloween decor ever since. I added antique silver candelabras with black taper candles to the dining table. Love how simple and yet, how spooky they look with the black candles.
Hoping this inspires you to create your own spooky Halloween memories. Happy Halloween!
