Learn how we lowered our electric utility bill to less than $20 per month!
It has been quite a while since I have posted about a house project but that doesn't mean we haven't been hard at work! Take a look at a few solar upgrades we have recently completed.
Solar Panels
Living in Florida, you see solar panels everywhere, so it was only a matter of time before we decided to look into it. And oh did we look in to it. The hubby and I spent weeks researching and analyzing the numbers to see if it was something that would be beneficial for us before we finally took the plunge.
Late in November of last year, we finally got our panels installed. A total of 26 solar panels were installed on our roof with my husband and I on pins and needles hoping that 1) the roof wouldn't be damaged, and 2) better be dang worth it! Because let me tell you, solar panels aren't cheap.
That's were research comes in. After spending many a nights discussing and looking through the numbers with the hubby, we couldn't deny it that it looked like it would impact us positively. So we took the plunge and had them installed, hoping that all our research and calculations were correct.
Several months have passed since we got the solar panels installed and so far our electric bills have either been less than $20 or $0! Before solar panels we easily had a $200+ bill every month. I call that a W I N in my book!
Solar Tubes
Another project that we finally had done was getting some solar tubes installed. If you don't know what they are, they are like skylights but without the window look. They essentially capture the sun's rays and pipe them into your home.
I was so super excited to get these installed because our house was so dark before we had these. We constantly had lights on in the kitchen and family room and if the lights weren't on, it felt like you were walking around in a cave. We love the result and they also look amazing at night time. Whenever there is a full moon, we don't even have to turn on the lights!
Hope you guys have enjoyed seeing the big updates we have done to our home recently. What are some of the big projects you have going on? Leave me a comment blow and don't forget to subscribe below!
