A Romantic Valentine's Day Tablescape

Valentine's Day planning doesn't have to include candy, hearts, or cupids if you don't want it to. I typically don't decorate for Valentine's Day so my decor pieces in this department is pretty slim. Since the hubby and I will be enjoying a nice dinner at home after baby by is off to bed this year, I wanted to create a nice tablescape without actually purchasing Valentine's Day decor items. So after scouring my house for inspiration, I have come up with a pretty simple, yet romantic tablescape for the hubby and I to enjoy.

I started by laying this crochet piece that my grandmother made years ago and was recently handed down to me. It sets a lovely delicate pattern on the wood table and brings in some much needed softness.

I then used two of my red base plates that I found during Christmas time last year at the Dollar Tree. When I first bought these, I had every intention of spray painting them silver, thinking I would get a lot more use out of them but I am starting to think that the red is here to stay! I love how deep the shade of red is and how they compliment my white plates perfectly.

Next, I wanted to do something special with the napkins as this was the easiest way for me to bring in a Valentine's Day touch to the table. After doing some research on Pinterest, I found this tutorial from Laurenconrad.com.  I am not going to lie, it took me a few tries to get these to look good, but once you got the hang of it, folding napkins into roses was a breeze.

Next came time to set the mood! And the easiest way to do that without spending a lot of money is candles.  These are all candles that I have scattered throughout the house.  The taller three I set in this lovely silver tray that we go several weeks ago while antiquing in downtown Jacksonville.  I finished off the look by simply flanking each side with tea lights.

I also took this same table setting to our lanai and it looked amazing as well! I love seeing all the candles flickering and glowing in the night.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and that it helps inspire you to create your own Valentine's day tablescape! Leave me a comment below and let me know what you think!
