Creating a Cozy Bed for Winter

Ahh Winter…How I love you!

I would have never uttered those words when I lived in Ohio. Digging my car out of a foot or so of snow was not my idea of a good time. But I find that since moving to Florida (over 10 years now), I'm starting to crave colder weather. By January, Florida has caught on that it's winter time and the weather begins to get a little chillier.

There's nothing like getting into a cozy bed when the weather is cooler and settling in for the night wrapped in cozy blankets.

Today I'd thought it would be fun to share how I create a cozy bed for winter.

First, I like to start with flannel sheets. I do like to use a flat sheet, but I put it on backwards so that when it's folded down, you see the right side of the sheet.

Next, I layer in a blanket.

The next few steps will depend on where you live. We typically don't use a duvet at all unless it get's really cold. So I like to first layer on a coverlet and then another blanket on top.

On colder nights, I like to layer on the duvet.

If I lived somewhere that’s a lot colder than Florida's winters, then I’ll first layer on the duvet and a pretty coverlet or blanket on top.

How cozy does this look?! I'd like to crawl in here for the night, that's for sure!

For Florida weather, I like to keep my bed with just a blanket and a coverlet for winter. A down comforter is usually way too heavy for the climate here. On super cold evenings, I also just layer another pretty blanket on top.
