A Casual Thanksgiving Tablescape

One of my favorite things to do in my home is hosting holiday meals. Not for all the cooking ;) but for my love of sharing my home with my family and friends. I love creating a space where everyone feels welcome and comfortable.

We are hosting Thanksgiving this year and I have to say, I’m quite excited. I’ve been thinking about how I want to decorate our Thanksgiving table this year using the color green and some glass pumpkins I’ve had for a couple of years. Usually, I use these pumpkins around our house to decorate for fall but this year, I saved them all to use them for our Thanksgiving table.

I find that by setting down my base items first, I can set the middle decorations last to make sure that everything fits. Our table is an antique that’s well over 100 years old from passed down in my family so it’s not as wide as most tables today. Setting my main pieces first allows me to see how much room I have to play with.

I wanted the table to feel pretty yet casual and these jute chargers feel like they help bring the decor to a casual level. On top, I used my favorite everyday dishes by Lenox. They are so pretty not to use everyday yet stylish enough to elevate a tablescape. Lastly, I added our matte gold silverwear for a little touch of glam.

Now, it’s time for the fun part. I started with a candle holder wrapped in fall foliage that was gifted to me and placed it in the middle. Next, I pulled out all of the glass pumpkins I had been saving - the big ones are from Home Goods but several years old - and the small ones are actually from The Dollar Tree, but again, they are also several years old. I played around with the layout until I was happy with the way it looked.

We don’t have a lot of room for decorations with this table, so I live to keep simple. The colors of the pumpkins and the candle holder worked perfectly with the existing decor in this space.
