5 Things that Changed the way I clean my Home

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. We’re happily getting back to our routine after a long holiday break. My little one is back at school and I’m getting some much needed work time around the house.

Cleaning my house has always been a little therapeutic for me. I enjoy doing it because it gives me a sense of accomplishment and just makes me feel good. I know not everyone shares my same joy in cleaning, so today I thought I would share with you some of my favorite tools that have made my life easier when cleaning my home.

5 Things that changed the way I clean my house:

Bissell Crosswave

YUCK!

This thing is amazing! Before I had it, I would have bet you money that I had clean floors but after just one use, boy was I wrong! We are mostly a no shoes inside the house kind of family, but there are sometimes when one of us walks around with shoes on. I would have gone in a panic cleaning the floors where the dirty shoes have been. Having two little ones who are constantly playing on the floor made me really focus on keeping our floors clean. With the Bissell Crosswave, I am able to vacuum AND mop at the same time. Not only does it save me time but it also cleans so well!

After a year of using it, I’m still loving using it to help keep my floors sparkling clean. You can also use the Crosswave for vacuuming and cleaning your area rugs! It truly is amazing as it sounds.

During my normal tile floor cleaning I simply use a quarter cup of vinegar mixed with warm water. My favorite essential oil drops on the filter and it leaves my home smelling amazing!

Robot Vacuum

A robot vacuum is a must around here for helping keep our home clean in between deep cleanings. We don’t have a super expensive one, so I can’t speak to all robot vacuums but ours does the trick in helping me keep my floors clean a little longer. If you have young children, you know the struggles of keeping your kitchen floor clean after meals (am I right?!) I set our robot vacuum up to run while we are sleeping or in a bedroom while we are out and come back to a clean space.

DIY Cleaners

Not only does making my own cleaning solutions save me money, but it also helps me know exactly what chemicals I am bringing into my home. I have several cleaning solutions that I like to keep on hand at all times.

Granite Counter Cleaning Solution - I use half a cup of alcohol, half a teaspoon of dish soap, and one and a half cups of warm water. I do not use vinegar or bleach on my granite counters because they are acidic and may dull the granite.

Glass Cleaner - 50:50 solution of water and vinegar. This works even better than Windex and SO.MUCH.CHEAPER!

Spot cleaner

This thing is like magic, that’s the only word that I can think that accurately describes this product. Use it on your cushions, area rugs, carpets, virtually any stain and it will come out with the Folex Carpet Spot Remover.

Steam Cleaner

If you have been following me for a while, you know that I love cleaning. But the one area of my home that I despise to clean is the bathroom. Being a mom to a recently potty trained boy will do that to you. We also have super hard water that does a number on our fixtures and stains everything it touches. After years of hard scrubbing and trying every bathroom cleaning solution there is, we finally purchased one of these steam cleaners and have never looked back. I clean everything in the bathroom with this thing, it comes with a scrubbing brush attachment which allows me to scrub the grout. I could talk for hours about how amazing this steam cleaner is and how much it has helped me clean our bathrooms well and faster!

Let me know if you decided to try any of these products. I would love to hear what you think!
